Shido’s eyes fluttered open and he snuggled against the warm body in the bed with him. [This is nice..] He felt Ban stiffen in his arms as he woke up, then relaxed when he must have remembered where he was. Shido’s arms tightened around Ban’s waist and he kissed his shoulder. “Morning.”

Ban turned around in Shido’s arms. “Good morning.” Shido knew he must look like the cat that got the cream. “Why are you looking so satisfied?”

“We had sex.”

“I noticed.”

“I’m your first.” Shido couldn’t keep the note of smugness out of his voice even if he tried.

Ban didn’t meet Shido’s eyes. “I’m not a virgin.”

“Not anymore, anyway.”

“Oh, bite me.” Shido’s head dipped down and he bit down, gently, on Ban’s neck, drawing on the skin and deliberately leaving a mark. “Hey!”

“You asked...” Shido nuzzled Ban’s temple and dragged Ban closer to him. “You’ve never had sex before this?”

“Yes. I have.”

“With another man?”

“...Yes.” Shido fought down the irrational urge to thrust inside Ban again and mark his neck up into one big bruise and shout ‘MINE!’ over and over. “With Ginji. Once.”

“Oh?” [The fuck?]

“It was his first night out of Mugenjou. He had a nightmare, and wanted comfort.”

“Normally he’d just cuddle.” Shido remembered spending those nights in Mugenjou, those terribly cold nights when the dreams would hit Ginji the hardest, with Ginji curled against his side, Makube X on the otherside, and Masaki curled up by his lion, who had always liked the quiet man. Kazuki and Juubei would be curled together in another corner.

“I guess he wanted something more. Something to prove that he really wasn’t in Mugenjou anymore.” Ban shrugged. “So I gave him what he wanted. Can YOU deny Ginji anything? Especially when he’s half naked and looking at you with those big brown eyes, begging you to take him?”

[Is there anyone that can deny Ginji anything?] Shido blinked. “He really said that?”

“Not in so many words, but, yeah.”

“I take it you must’ve been on top that time..” [Wait.. something’s not right. Does he..?] “You mean to say you don’t love Ginji?”

“I do love him. It’s just... different.”

“Ahh.” [He never would have done this with me, if he was with Ginji.] Shido tilted Ban’s head up to look him in the eye. “Do you love me?”

“I’m not sure. I mean, well...”

[Not something I wanted to hear but it’s better than “I hate your guts”.] Shido nuzzled Ban’s temple. “Maybe I should’ve taken you out on a date first.” Shido murmured, mostly to himself.

“Eh?”

“I rushed you into things.” Shido elaborated.

“Shido, pull your head out of your ass. We didn’t do anything that I didn’t want.” [But my head was up your ass. OW. Bad pun. VERY bad pun. That sounded like something Emishi would say. Speaking of him, I really should thank him for his stupid gift. I bet he never once thought in a million years I’d actually use the lube.]

“Do you even know what you want?” [That is NOT what I meant to say.]

“You.” [So he wants me, but he’s not sure if he loves me? I can deal with that.] “Money. A steady source of income. An apartment for Ginji and me to stay in, with heat in winter and air conditioning in the summer. No more parking tickets. Ginji to to see the world and everything in it. World domination and or peace, whichever comes first.” The last part caused Shido to laugh. “What about you?”

“Mmm. You. Better treatment of domestic and wild animals. A house for you me and Ginji to live in where we could have a dog. But no picket fence, because you’d probably use it to kill me. World domination or peace, which ever comes first.” Ban grinned at that. “And breakfast.”

“Wow, that’s right. You’re going to feed me after what you put me through last night.”

“I have my breakfast right here.” Shido kissed Ban. [Yummy.] Ban snuggled closer to Shido. “I never thought you’d be the cuddling type.”

“The same could be said of you.”

“True. Do you want breakfast?”

“Not if it involves either of us leaving this bed.”

“We have to meet up with Ginji and Himiko anyway.”

“OH SHIT!” Ban bolted out of the bed and started to get dressed. “I can’t believe I forgot to call Ginji and tell him that we’re okay!”

“I did that. Last night after you fell asleep.” Shido tilted his head to indicate the cell phone on his nightstand.

Ban glanced up from trying to close up his pants. “What else did you tell them?”

“I told Paul that you were exhausted and I wasn’t planning on being the one to wake you up so you could sleep in your car.” Shido rose and Ban’s eyes widened as he licked his lips. [Like what you see, love?] “I didn’t think you’d want me telling him about this, until we’ve actually figured out what this is.” [Well, until you’ve figured out what this is. I know what this is. This is you being MINE.]

“Well, last night you told me it’s not a one time thing.”

“Yes I know. You were also terrified out of your mind last night.” [THAT came out wrong.]

“For the last time I wasn’t-”

“Ban, I could feel your pulse racing before I even kissed you. You sounded truly scared when the gun went off and you thought I got shot.”

“...”

“Ban..”

“Maybe I was scared. A little.”

Shido rolled his eyes. [I should’ve know he’d never outright admit it.] “Of course, Ban.” He tugged on his underwear and jeans and kissed Ban. “So, what now?”

“What do you mean?”

“Do we tell the others?”

Ban worried his lip between his teeth. “I don’t want to keep this from Ginji, but I don’t want to announce it to the world, you know?” [Really? I want to shout it from the rooftops..]

“I’m not going to keep it from Madoka. She deserves to know.” [Especially if all goes well and you an Ginji end up moving in here with me.]

“So...”

“We don’t advertise it, but we don’t deny it either.” [That I can live with.]

“Sounds like a plan.” Ban pulled on his shirt. “Did you mean it?”

“Mean what?”

“About the house with the dog and you me and Ginji?”

“Well, yeah.” [I wouldn’t have said it if I didn’t.]

“Just checking.” Ban’s voice sounded tight, like he was going to cry.

“You okay?” [Don’t tell me he regrets this. Please..]

“Fine. Just feeling like an out of place romance novel heroine.”

[Ban reads romance novels?] Shido chuckled and kissed the top of Ban’s head. “You’re so cute. Come on, I’ll buy you and Ginji breakfast.”

Ban grinned.
