Ginji thinks that people are puzzle pieces, just like knowledge, or understanding. Each one has its own unique place to settle into, unique to themselves.

When Ban touches him just so, featherlight and burning hot, bright eyes wholly focused on him, he feels them snapping together, coming into focus. Ban is a tactical genius, he has heard time and again, but when they are like this, he does not assault so much as coax, using charm over battle skill to find his way inside.

Like the moment of discovering truth, here they fit and then separate again--and he should feel more lonely afterwards, perhaps, but Ban is never far enough away for that.

Ban likes to fit his hands around Ginji's wrists, and feel how they flex and twist against him.

Ginji likes the curve of Ban's neck, the place where it flows gracefully into shoulder. It smells like home when he rests his face there.

Ban is always greedy for these stolen times, hungry in a way Ginji only halfway understands. Like a starving man, like a parched man, he gluts himself and still comes away wanting more. He licks salt from Ginji's throat like it's worth more than the blood-red wine they once retrieved.

He wants the flex and press and heat, likes seeing how Ginji's face shuts down for just a handful of seconds. If he doesn't hold Ginji's wrists, he curves a hand around Ginji's neck and flattens the other one on his belly to feel it tremble.

They're the lost pieces, cast aside from their original places to find that, somehow, the two of them still fit together.

Ban is determined, dedicated, seeking the empty places that will take him in.

Ginji closes his eyes, breathes deep, and lets the minute sweep over him.
