Electricity

Author: Misura
Rating: G
Genre: Reflection. Drabble. Pre-yaoi.
Status: Complete.
Pairing: Ban + Ginji.
Summary: Ginji asks Shido for help with a feeling he has around Ban.

He was sure something was wrong with him.

Something that was connected to his gift. And, for some unfathomable reason, to his partner, Midou Ban, which meant he couldn't really go there for help.

He could just picture Ban's reaction.

"You've been working too hard. That's all."

And then Ban would probably make some joke or propose to go do something together and never bring up the subject again.

Well, or perhaps not. Perhaps he should give Ban a bit more credit.

But really, having Ban respond all worried and fussing over him would hardly make him feel any better.

He'd merely feel guilty over being such a bother, and angry with himself for acting like a kid again.

Already, Ban acted like he was a child way too often, even if he'd proven he could handle himself as well as Ban, when the situation asked for it.

On the other hand, his problem -did- have something to do with Ban.

So going to anyone who Ban knew would probably result in Ban finding out about his problem within twenty-four hours, followed by Ban accusing him of not trusting him and sneaking behind his back.

"I thought we were friends! Why didn't you just come to me with this right away?"

There was, however, one person whom -he- considered to be a friend, while Ban ... didn't really. The feeling was mutual, something he usually regretted.

Though it sure came in handy this once.

And maybe, just maybe, he'd be able to get some help too.

"I don't see how I could help you with this, Ginji," Shido said.

Right. So much for -that- glimmer of hope.

"But there -has- to be some sort of explanation! What if it gets worse? What if I am losing control? What if I - "

Shido lifted one hand, to stem his flood of words. Ginji sent him a pleading look, which didn't seem to have any effect.

"I would advise you not to panic. Now, if you excuse me, I have to go." Shido seemed to be rather in a hurry to leave, Ginji noted sourly.

"Thanks a whole lot," he muttered.

"Hey, Ginji, what's with the long face?" Ban asked, in a teasing tone of voice.

"Nothing," Ginji replied, managing a weak smile.

Ban frowned, apparently not entirely convinced by his answer. After another inquisitive look, he seemed to shrug it off though.

"If you say so ... just tell me if something's the matter, all right?" Ban grinned, brushing past him to get another cup of coffee.

And at the exact moment Ban's body touched his, for no more than a mere second, Ginji felt a jolt of electricty that made his skin tingle and his face grow hot.

Silently cursing an unhelpful beast-master, Ginji closed his eyes until the weird feeling went away.

It was getting worse every time. He only hoped he'd find a remedy for it before something really bad happened ...
